Observing Allah's Intelligent Design

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Lets talk about something light. Heh.

This posting I’m currently in makes me realize something. Maybe you guys have thought about it long time ago, but I guess I only appreciate it at this moment.

Besides the ooohs and aaahs, as medical students and doctors-to-be, we are privileged. Don’t u think? Privileged to see things other people seldom see. The diseases, anomalies, deformities and handicaps, ranging from mild to severe - we are fortunate that we see them quite often. Why do I say that we are fortunate? Because we get to see all these that serve as constant reminders for us, that God is The Most Powerful, and God is Great. Allahu Akbar.

“Truly, therein are Ayaat (evidences, proofs and signs) for every patient, thankful (person)” (Ibraahem 14:5)

Have we ever thought, that Allah is so good to us, that he spared us from the gene mutations and chromosomal abnormalities, and we are what we are today? We are not syndromic, we don’t need regular blood transfusions, no colostomy bags to carry, no malignant melanomas covering our skin. No seizures to live with, no malignancies growing inside, no mental retardation, no talipes. And the list goes on. Our body systems work perfectly well, our limbs splendidly move, our faces beautifully created, our hearts incessantly beat, our hearings and visions had never deceived us. And all these are beyond our control. It is by the will of Allah.

And if Allah touches you with affliction, there is none to take it off but He; and if He visits you with good, then He has power over all things. And He is The Supreme, above His servants; and he is The Wise, The Aware. (6:17-18)

Subhanallah.

Looking at the patients really should knock our brain. Some of them have great pain to endure. Others are unable to optimally function as normal human being. Some are bedridden and helpless, relying to other people to feed and wash them, and even wipe their behinds.

So why are we complaining so much and make such a big fuss when we are tested with only some little hardship?

“but give glad tidings to As Saabiroon. Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones” [al-Baqarah 2:155-157]

Why are we still wasting our time and health doing useless and unnecessary things? Playing games for hours and hours?

“By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily, man is in loss. Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf) which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience.” (Al-‘Asr 103:1-3)

Ibn Abbas narrated that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said:"There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good." (Bukhari 8/421)

Why are we still arrogant to Allah, hesitate to leave our sins and turn back to Islam, when He has given us so much food, money, pleasure, health and comfort?Do we want to be like those who regret wasting their time when it is already too late?

“That was because you had been exulting in the earth without any right (by worshipping others instead of Allah and by committing crimes), and that you used to rejoice extremely (in your error). Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein: and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant!” (Ghaafir 40:75-76)

“My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakât) of my wealth, and be among the righteous.”
(Al-Munaafiqoon 63:10)

And the answer to this request will be:

“And Allah grants respite to none when his appointed time (death) comes. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (Al-Munaafiqoon 63:11)

Shouldn’t we be grateful to Him, and thank Him for all His blessings towards us? Rasulullah saw used to do qiyamul-layl every night to the extent his feet swelled. Aishah asked him, why do you do this when Allah has already forgiven you everything before and everything after? He saw said: Then shall I not be a grateful servant?

Shouldn’t we spend our life as His righteous and grateful servants, and live our lives the way He wants?

sis PoI, jazakillahu khayr for such a blessful article.

The title sounds good so i search it in google and suprisingly, i found this:

>>>>Allah Does Not Need to Make a Design in Order to Create;

It must be appreciated that Allah, the Lord of the heavens and Earth, has no need of making a design in order to create. Allah is free of all such imperfections.

The perfection in Allah's creations may be expressed in such terms as "a perfection as if designed," but that is all.

It is sufficient for Allah to say "Be!" in order for any object or event to come into being as He wishes.

In verses it is revealed that:

His command when He desires a thing is just to say to it, "Be!" and it is. (Qur'an, 36:82)

[He is] the Originator of the heavens and Earth. When He decides on something, He just says to it, "Be!" and it is. (Qur'an, 2:117)

Subhanallah! may Allah grant us a HEALTHY HEART in order to spend our life as His righteous and grateful servants, and to live our lives the way He wants.

'Glory to Allah, who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. (ya-seen;36)

wallahu'alam

thanks for that input sesemut.

when i was thinking about this title,i didn't look at that aspect u are highlighting. from what i understand, this 'intelligent design' thing refers to the argument that God exists and this universe has a Creator, refuting the darwinism and evolution theory.

However, maybe it's a mistake to use that term.so u people can just ignore it.but just a piece of note,i did put Allah's name, because it is said that:
"As we said earlier, those who accept the theory of intelligent design generally hesitate to mention the name of Allah."

Anyway, jazakillah, i learn something new and may Allah forgive me for this mistake.

dan benarlah Allah;
'Allah Pencipta langit dan bumi. Apabila Dia hendak menetapkan sesuatu, Dia hanya berkata kepadanya, "Jadilah!" Maka jadilah sesuatu itu.'(Al-Baqarah;117)
